Dave Walmsley - Canadian Combato

I felt truly humbled as I had mistakenly arrived in Canada

thinking I knew something about fighting,

  I SOON DISCOVERED I DIDN'T

 He went through all the individual techniques including the axe hand,chin jab, hammer fist, elbow strikes, knees etc.

The training was condensed and straight to the point, the instruction was of a high level and truly changed my whole perception on self protection training.

As the training was concluded we sat and chatted for a while about WW2 Combatives, watched some old WW2 unarmed combat films.

I also learned that Dave was no longer actively teaching due to becoming frustrated with all the politics and rivalry. This is a true loss as it is my opinion that Dave Walmsley is the most talented WW2 CQC instructor around

I know there are more well known people teaching the Combato syllabus, but I believe that Dave has done a great job in

streamlining the training making it more effective than what is being currently taught.

I'd like to dedicate this article to my friend and instructor Dave Walmsley. To thank him for his kindness and showing me what REAL Self Protection is all about.
