Dave Walmsley - Canadian Combato

As I have already mentioned, I recently took a trip to Canada to further my training and interest in WW2 Combatives

Before I left the U.K I scoured the internet for instructors teacing a Combato/Defendo style. Whilst searching I came accross a man named Dave Walmsley on a number of Martial Arts forums. Many showered him with praise describing him as a talented instructor teaching realistic self defence

On typing in Canadian Combato and his name I managed to find his website

After a number of e-mails and a couple of months later I found myself standing outside Daves door in London Ontario. As I approached his porch Dave came to his door 'HELLO TAZ' I was greeted warmly and he shook my hand and invited me into his home.

We talked for a while about cultural differences, Sports and even managed to put the world to rights.

I learned that Dave had trained with Bradley J Steiner and had worked alongside John Kary, both well known Combato instructors.

Dave also had a strong background in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was personally trained by the Gracies in the U.S back in the 90's.

We then made our way to the training area which was situated in the basement area of his home. There were punch bags weight machines and an array of training dummies.

What followed was the most realistic self protection training I have ever recieved.
