Camp-X
In 2001 initial knowledge of the existence of Camp-X came to Mr. Cressman by way of a former 1970's DEFENDO instructor who was told by Underwood in his later years that he taught at the Camp. Cressman nor this former instructor had any knowledge of Camp-X at that time, its purpose or where it was located. Since 2001 Cressman has encountered a number of former students of Bill Underwood who also made similar comments. In 2006 Cressman was contacted by Ronald Vaughn,
a former DEFENDO lead instructor for Underwood in the 70's and 80's. Mr. Vaughn travelled extensively with Underwood in Canada and the USA teaching DEFENDO to professional Law Enforcement agencies. Vaughan was told by Underwood while about their travels that he taught at Camp-X and that in fact while there he met William Fairbairn.
Understanding the totality of Canadian, American and British Wartime Special Operations in North America :
It is clear from Bill Underwood's personal admissions, through to printed documentation in the SOE archives and from the testimonies of Canadian and American military veterans that Underwood was involved with unarmed combat training at Camp-X. Family memories and geographical logistics during that very precise time frame are also entirely congruent with these activities.
